Abstract: In self-sufficient of carbohydrate as much 2100 calories/capital/day in Indonesia, corn has the second most important role after rice. As a food, the corn is not less in nutrient than rice (Anonym, 2007). Evaluation of land suitability is very important for planning of using productive and eternal land. One of technology is Geographical Information System (GIS) which has capability to make model giving illustration, explanation, and assessment of the factual condition (Hardjowigeno et all., 1999). Objective of the research is ti develop spatial analysis model for suitability land with presenting data and information about evaluation of suitability land for corn. The use of the research is making easier in evaluating suitability land and also availability information of map result as a evaluation of map about suitability land conducted as a macro. It is meant that no paying attention for land detail today. The research was carried out from July 2007 until January 2008. The research is located at all area of Blitar Regency, East Java. Procedure research was divided into some phases: soil survey, soil analysis, and data analysis. Blitar Regency is staying on South Katulistiwa, located between 111o 40’ – 112o 10’ East Latitude and 7o 58’ – 8o 9’ South Latitude. Blitar Regency has large area as 1.667,93 km2 . Analysis of land suitability for corn at Blitar Regency is existing three suitability land classes, that is S1 land suitability (Extremely suitable) as 85% at District of Udanawu, Ponggok, Wonodadi, Srengat, Ngelogok, Gandusari, Garum, Talun, Selopuro, Sutojayan, Kesamben, Selorejo. While S2 land suitability (Suitable Enough) is 10 % at District of Wlingi, Doko, Binangun, Wates, Panggungrejo, Wonotirto, Bakung, Kademangan ans part of Gandusari District Area. And S3 land suitability (Suitable Marginal) is 5% of ans part north Blitar at district Wlingi, Gandusari, and Doko. Dominant factor influencing of map result evaluation of land suitability for corn is temperature, rainfall, drainage, texture, pH, effective depth, C-organic, Clay KTK, inclination and erosion. Using GIS is very effective in modeling evaluation of land suitability for corn at Blitar Regency that used by politician, practitioners and decision maker.
